12 key pieces of advice for quick validation

Take advantage of our advice to easily complete your product page, guarantee quick marketing validation and encourage customers to buy your module!

Don't forget that when selling your products on PrestaShop Addons, you're talking to agencies, freelancers, and developers, but also many online e-merchants who often have very little technical knowledge.

So you need to make your product page easy to understand. Follow our advice!

1 - Name

  • Choose a name that's clear, concise and representative.

    IMPORTANT: the name of your ZIP file must be identical to the module name given on the product page. This makes it easier for the merchant to find your module in the list of modules within the shop's back-office.

  • Banish the words "module", "responsive" and "PrestaShop" from the name of your module.

  • Avoid specifying the module version in the title; this information is already automatically included in your product page.

  • Avoid using the same name as an existing module on the PrestaShop Addons marketplace. Stand out from the crowd!

2 - Price

  • Choose the price which seems the most suitable from the price list, which ranges from €29.99 to €4,999.99.

  • If other modules offer similar functions to those of your product, avoid offering a lower price: your product will appear to be poorer quality.

3 - Icon

  • The image must represent your module! The icon allows visitors to understand the module functionality at a glance, which is particularly important on the category pages and on your vendor page (if you use the same image for all your products, it will be impossible to differentiate between them).

  • The module image must measure 57x57 pixels for optimal resolution on the site (jpg, png or gif format).

4 - Available countries

Select the countries where your module works 100% correctly, to avoid being overwhelmed with requests for support or reimbursement (especially for payment, delivery or marketplace services, etc.).

For payment and transport modules, you can choose a maximum of 5 countries.
For other module categories, you can choose "All", if the module works everywhere, of course.

5 - External Paid Services

Does your module require a subscription to an external service?
Check the box provided: this will protect you from possible client disputes.
Clients will be disappointed after purchasing if information is missing from the product page, and may then rate you harshly... or request a refund.

6 - Languages

  • English is mandatory. This is the default language for your product page if you have not translated it in to the visitor's language.

  • Provide your product page in multiple languages! By doing so, you will gain visibility (especially thanks to the "Translations" layer), and increase your module's conversion rate.
    IMPORTANT: Translations absolutely must be professionally translated, understandable, and error-free (machine translations are not permitted). Don't hesitate to use a translation agency!
    The main languages used on PrestaShop Addons are: English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German.
    Boost the visibility of your modules by having your product pages translated by professionals!

  • Tip: it's also a good idea to translate your module zip into several languages, as this can be the deciding factor for an online seller when making a purchase (as the module will already be translated into the store's languages).

7 - Text

7.1 - The short description

Make people want your module! The short description is visible on the home page and the category pages. Make it snappy to convince e-merchants how useful your module is from the very first lines.
Of course, as the name suggests, this description should be short :)

7.2 - What the module provides for the seller/ for their customers

  • "For the online seller": this field allows you to clearly display the benefits your module provides to e-merchants (does your module save the seller's time? Improve their natural SEO? Boost their sales?).
    Complete this section with clear, concise and motivating bullet points!

    DON'T

    This module allows you to convert your sales.

    DO

    • In just a few clicks, send an automated reminder email whenever a shopping cart is abandoned.

    • Easily add a discount (or free shipping) to the message depending on the amount in the cart to optimize your conversions.

    • Maximize your conversions by sending 1, 2 or 3 reminders whenever you like, and in the languages of your choice.

    • Benefit from an intuitive, very easy to configure and entirely personalizable module in your shop's colors.

    Stop losing your hesitant customers!
    Very quickly create automated emails in order to chase up carts that didn't reach the payment stage.

  • "For the customer": this field allows you to display how your module benefits a seller's customers (will the customer enjoy improved navigation thanks to your module? Quickly find what they're looking for? Tell their friends about the shop?).
    Again, complete this section with clear, concise and motivating bullet points!

    DON'T

    Your customers will love receiving a follow-up email with a special offer!

    DO

    This module immediately improves customer satisfaction, and allows them to:

    • finalize a purchase they didn't have time to finish

    • order products they loved before they ran out of stock

    • enjoy a discount (if you have configured this option) on products that interest them

These are all questions you need to answer to convince the seller that your module is essential for their boutique. Make it a must-have!

7.3 - Features

  • Present the features in a list: e-merchants will easily be able to understand the essential features of your product. Also highlight your module's strengths and competitive advantages. Stand out from the crowd!

    DON'T

    This module allows you to really boost your sales! You will be able to convert hundreds of carts with all its great features!
    Features: templates you can create yourself, email personalization, discounts tailored to your customer's cart, and much more...

    DO

    • Create email modules tailored to your needs!

    • Create personalized emails for each of your customers!

    • Create discounts tailored to the value of abandoned carts

    • Choose to send a different email depending on the customer's language

    • Make copies of your templates!

  • As with the module title, there is no need to specify the version within the description; this information automatically appears to your product page.

  • Be motivational and concise! Use action verbs where possible to engage potential customers and demonstrate the use of each function. Your text should be equally comprehensible for online e-merchants, who don't necessarily have a lot of technical knowledge, and for developers. Feel free to regroup features into the main categories to make the text easier to read and to optimize understanding.

  • Don't commit to the terms and conditions for refunds or the duration of technical support: this essential information is already included in the Terms and Conditions approved by the customer. Mention of these terms on your product page may discourage the customer from purchasing.

  • Pay attention to presentation and make sure your text is well-spaced!

7.4 - Installation and recommendations

These two sections are optional. Feel free to use them if there is essential information the seller should know before purchase (such as incompatibility with certain modules, the need to deactivate a feature to use the module, etc.)

8 - Key words

  • Key words are used by our search engine, and as such they are indispensable for promoting your module on PrestaShop Addons! Carefully follow these points when using this section.

    • You must choose a minimum of 3 key words. Choose relevant words that describe your module.

    • Each key word includes ONE SINGLE word and not a group of words with spaces, nor a group of words written without spacing)

    • Key words should be separated by a comma,

    • Don't use any accents,

    • Write key words in the singular, and error-free: our search engine already handles plurals and visitors' spelling mistakes

  • Remember that, in addition to the obligatory English, you absolutely must translate key words into the languages in which your product page is available.

  • Remove generic key words such as "PrestaShop" and "module". To find out if your chosen words are relevant, ask your friends and colleagues which words they would use in the search bar to find your module. This will give you the chance to modify or add some!

  • Stand out from other contributors and avoid overly competitive key words.

9 - Images

Screen grabs are mandatory in order to demonstrate how the module works. They allow the seller to quickly understand your module and its features.

  • Provide one screen grab per feature

  • Use a square format (1000 x 1000 px)

  • If you offer your product page in several languages, create screen grabs for each language.

10 - Demos

  • Your videos should only be hosted on Youtube/Vimeo/Dailymotion so they can be accessed by all our e-merchants. Do not include external links in the video's description.

  • Your demos must be in HTTPS.

  • For access to your demo, just use the user name "demo@demo.com" and the password "demodemo" (adapt the domain name for each translation).

  • Remember that it is strictly forbidden to insert links or personal details in your demo, so that all support is provided via the internal inbox. We can then help you in case of any dispute!

11 - Benefits

  • To help guide e-merchants, a layer is provided to help them search for modules by theme (conversion rate, navigation, customer service, productivity, average order value). As such it is essential to find THE key benefit of your module!

12 - Documentation

The documentation allows the seller to understand how to install and set up the module by themselves.

  • It absolutely must be written in English and the other languages in which you provide your product page.

  • Where possible use screen grabs and simple sentences that can be understood by e-merchants (whatever their technical ability) as well as developers

Clear documentation significantly reduces the need for after-sales service: don't waste time, and optimize it!
