This module is designed to correct and redirect to the default Prestashop URLs with IDs on product, category, CMS, manufacturer and supplier pages, when a customer or visitor tries to access a URL without the corresponding ID.
Fixes the 404 page not found error issue when the store has used the URLs without IDs through modules or mods and now wants to go back to using the URLs with IDs as the Prestashop system shows by default.
If a user tries to access the product page using a URL without an ID, such as:
www.mydomain.com/men/hummingbird-printed-t-shirt.html
The module redirects to the following URL with ID to avoid the 404 error:
www.mydomain.com/men/1-1-hummingbird-printed-t-shirt.html
It is very useful if you want to avoid SEO penalties for the continuous 404 page not found errors that store users will experience when they try to access a URL without an ID that no longer exists by linking from the search engine or through links they share on third-party pages such as blogs, forums, etc... where URLs have stayed
WHAT IS REALLY THE PURPOSE OF THIS MODULE?
There are Prestashop store owners who, through third-party modules or modifications, wanted to change the structure to display their store's URLs, removing their store IDs (products, categories, CMS, manufacturers, and suppliers).
However, later, they wanted to recover the default Prestashop URL system that shows the IDs to avoid duplicate content. It is then when they encounter the problem of the SEO penalty, because all the positioning work has been done with the previous URLs without ID and there are already many pages where links to their store are shared with these URLs. When switching to the default Prestashop system that has IDs in the URLs, what causes the user who tries to access the previous URLs, the store will show a 404 page not found error.
This module solves this problem to preserve SEO and avoid penalties for this reason. When a user tries to access one of these URLs that no longer exist, the system detects which product page, category, CMS... he wants to access and redirects him to the correct URL to show him the page and avoid the 404 error.
