This easy to install module will simplify your URLs by removing the id numbers. But more than that, it will also improve the category URL structure by including the parent categories in the URL.

This Prestashop module will remove IDs from your Prestashop links, simple as that. It works on product, category, manufacturer, supplier, cms and cms category pages. It uses the friendly URL setting alone to determine the page. The module stills works even if multiple products or categories share the same rewrite URL, as long as they are under different categories.

The module also adds "" keyword to the category URLs. After installing the module you can use it to place the parent category list in category URLs just like the product URLs. With this the URL structure becomes more intuitive. i.e. the category links will be:

www.your-shop.com/parent-category-1/parent-category-2/sub-category.

And so you can easily browse a parent category by just removing the last section:

www.your-shop.com/parent-category-1/parent-category-2

This creates a better URL structure, making it more intuitive and easier to use.

Instalação

The module uses two overrides, Dispatcher and Controller classes.

Intuitive directory listing like structure for product links
i.e. category and product links are
www.domain.com/category-link
www.domain.com/category-link/product-link.html
When you remove the product name from the URL you browse the parent category.
Existing links still work
If you have automatic canonical link redirection the links will automatically redirect to the new links without IDs.
Fast response
On the demo site below the module added less than 0.005 seconds to the load time.

Recomendação

The product links only have the link rewrite, ean13 are no longer appended even if you use them. You can still use them by adding them to the product friendly URL.

The existing link formats still work, so you should not have any rewrites mimicking the URLs with ids. i.e. rewrites that starts with digits followed by a dash or underscore.

This module will change your existing links, this would mean the site will have to indexed again. Because of that you should use it on sites that were freshly installed. It is not advised to do this on an established site.
